This has been a busy month for me. I had to have some work done on my house and it made it hard to make my bows. I order to stay working I listed some printed ribbon on etsy and found that I love doing that. I will list more everyday and add some alligator clips also. It frees up my time to do some sewing. Lots of plans but it all takes time. I found that listing supplies frees me up to start other projects. Maybe I'm on to something.

DIABETES IS DANGEROUS AND THE OUTCOME DEVASTATING

Gary died on his 56th birthday. I appreciate all the emails that I have received from people that had a family member on dialysis. Such a heart breaking disease for the patient and the family.
I have received so much support and appreciated every email I have received. He passed away from a sudden heart attack on April 12th, 2010. He is so missed.

Gary was a sweet man. Always laughing and cutting up. He had type 2 diabetes it runs in his family. Grandmother, Aunts and Cousions but out of 5 children he was the only one to have it , go figure. He was a big eater and we always laughed at him because he loved watermelon. If He offered you a piece of watermelon he gave you half and he took half. He had a big appetite until he became so ill and could no longer eat enough to keep his body healthy.

Diabetes causes, blood clots, heart disease, kidney failure and anything else you can think of. Gary stopped working in Sept of 2008 with his kidneys failing and went on dialysis. A heart attack followed and he became so ill. On his 56th birthday he decided to go to the local garage to play dominoes with his friends and he never came home again. He died with a sudden heart attack. The events that followed were devastating. They tried there best to save him but it was not to be.

You cannot play around with diabetes. You always think that just one piece of pie or a small candy bar won't hurt. It does hurt, his Doctor explained it this way,when your sugar is high your blood is thick. Imagine your blood being like Karo syrup trying to pump through your heart and your brain. Every part of your body is affected by high sugar.

Taking care of your self is hard sometimes with so many things to entice us but its not worth it. Gary didn't look like the same man when he passed away. He could hardly put one foot in front of the other. He was hooked up to a dialysis machine every night for 10 hours and had to wear oxygen all the time. No fun for him and I know if he had a chance to redo all this he would take care of his diabetes. Its a sad sad disease that could be controlled by cutting carbs and the most important thing is to exercise in any way that you can.

Being a borderline diabetic I made sure that my sugar fell into line again and have it checked once a year. Don't let this stuff slip up on you.

I thought I had a big pretty bedroom. The room is about 16X22. A large queen bed and a antique dresser and chest with room for 2 old trunks in the room. One wall of book shelves for pictures and special things. You would think that would be enough room for dialysis supplies but it isn't. Supplies are in other rooms also. The old trunks are gone and Gary has a hospital bed right under all those shelves. I don't think you can see it in the pictures. His small supplies are stored on the shelves. Tons of them, mask, gloves, alcohol pads, iodine prep pads, 4X4s, sponges, 4 boxes syringes, antibacterial soaps and jels, paper towels for our hands, can't use towels because of germs. Just lots of stuff all over the house. The problem is our floors. In our bedroom alone here in this picture are 80 boxes that weigh 25 pounds each. That is 2000 lbs witch equals a ton on my wood floors. They were against a inside wall till I became worried about the bracing under the house. So I waited till the end of the month when his supplies are at the lowest and moved all of them against a outside wall. We are going to have to repair the bracing under the house now. We had a man come out yesterday to look and sure enough he thinks we have problems underneath. He will be back this week to see what it will take to brace the floors up and repair what has been done. When you live on Social Security these kind of things scare you to death.

Some people are able to store supplies in a garage that has heating and cooling. For myself I am not strong enough to bring those boxes into the house they are heavy, don't have a heated garage anyway.lol

HOME PD DIALYSIS: NOT ALWAYS EASY

I'm making embroidered hair bows today. A stressful day around here. Most of the time home dialysis goes OK. I start hooking bags to the machine around 7:PM every evening. Lots of things to do right before such as injections and weighing and filling out charts. I choose the solutions by his weight. If his weight is to high we use a stronger solution. We have 1.5, 2.5 and 4.25. Giving too much can make him take off too much and make him ill. We usually use the 2.5 and it works fine. We never want to go through a overload again. He had one in Oct. of last year and he nearly died. When a dialysis patient has too much fluid it fills up the lungs and damages the heart. It makes the heart weaker and larger every time it happens and a trip to the hospital on life flight.
After getting his dialysis machine ready it would not work. After calling tech support I was told to re thread the machine. We have 4 bags of fluid on the machine each about 12 pounds so its a little bit of work and time. It took me 1-1/2 hours to get him on last night. You would think that was enough bad luck till he woke up this morning. I was having a wonderful time having my coffee at 6 AM this morning all by myself emailing a Friend in the UK when I had to do his stats and unhook him. When he told me he was weak and could not stand up very well I took his blood pressure and his heart rate was very high. I about fell apart, and here I thought I was doing so good. I made the calls to his nurses and found that I probably had taken too much fluid off. Although just to fair to me that was not our fault. You really never know when that might happen. We go by dry weight. His dry weight is 106 KG and anything over that is extra fluid that needs to be taken off as well as the poisons.

It is such a sobering responsibility to take care of someone that has renal failure.
If a renal patient is on Hemo or PD they still have the same problems.

1. Albumin (protein) needs to be between 3.8 to 4.5 so he drinks protein drinks to keep it up.

2. Potassium needs to be 3.5 to 5.5. Too much K can stop your heart and kill you just that quick.

3. Phosphorus needs to be 3.5-5.5 it can weaken your bones and cause hardening of your arteries and body tissues.

4. Calcium needs to be 8-9.5. You must take your phosphorus binders before each meal.

The list goes on.

If you are a diabetic you can avoid these things by keeping your sugar under control.

I receive lots of email from people with a family member on dialysis. I appreciate each and everyone of them.

My friend in the UK is a living Kidney Donner. Her kidney will go to a anonymous receiver. How wonderful is that.

Learning To Make Satin Ribbon Roses

I'm learning to make ribbon roses. I just love to work with ribbon. Anything ribbon will work. These are about 2-1/2 inches wide. Perfect for appliques, hairbows, scarves, pillowcases,shoes, brooch pins.
There are so many styles of roses to learn. I found the most amazing book written by Candace Kling , The Artful Ribbon. I have never seen so many beautiful ribbon flowers. Something very special in making flowers. Keeping beautiful things alive. I will be offering roses made of satin, organza and grosgrain ribbons. I will still make my hairbows just plan to expand. No way is there enough time to do everything you want to. I would love to sew and make handbags and totes. I just can't fit everything in. I choose the roses because I can sit in the living room at night with my husband and make the roses while we watch a little TV. He is very sick and I don't like to stay in my bow room all the time and leave him alone so much. This is a perfect solution for that problem.

This is Christmas Eve and I'm missing my family so much. My Brother, Sister and my Mom. Missing the old days when we all lived near each other and spent holidays together when our children were small.

I received a boutique of beautiful flowers yesterday from someone I'm not really sure who it was but they brightened my Christmas more than they know. One the card there was a bible verse. I pulled out my bible and looked it up.

Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

I had no idea that this would be so sad and depressing this Christmas. The first Christmas that my husband and I spent together since he went on dialysis. Everything is different now. The medical company brought equipment yesterday for him. Wheelchair and a hospital bed. A cold reality check for me. Some things you just have no control over. Have to make the best of it, don't want to become depressed.

HOME PD DIALYSIS: BETTER WATCH FOR:

While the reason for this blog is discussing ribbon, hair bows and showing pictures of my work other things go on in our lives that take all of our attention and I want to share problems as well as solutions that we have discovered. We are fairly new to PD at home dialysis so we have had more problems than solutions.

I enjoy the emails that I receive from others that are interested in kidney failure and from those who are on dialysis. I learn from every email that I receive from others.

I think we made a bad mistake yesterday by going to a family Christmas party. Although its one that we go to every year and its the highlight of our lives. This is the fun part of being with our Children and Grandchildren, (notice that I capped those words without even thinking about it) but that's how we feel about getting together with the kids.

Our youngest daughter live 75 miles south of us, they picked us up and we went to Glenpool, Oklahoma about another 85 miles so a pretty long trip for them. All the kids were there. One Son and all his family, wife and 6 children and a boyfriend of their oldest. Four Daughters and their family's, husbands and between them 8 Grandchildren, one Granddaughter and her 2 children, my Great-Grand-Children. The house was busting full with little ones running around. Lots of good food and fun. Santa Clause came in the front door with a bag of gifts, the kids were so excited. Even some of the grown-ups sat on Santa's lap for their presents. Of course we made fun of them.

My husband is on home dialysis the PD type so he does dialysis every night. He has been very ill with a recent heart attack and his lungs filling with fluid. He is on the mend but still weak. He didn't want to miss all this so we went. He is a diabetic and although he is not eating much anymore because of nausea he felt like eating some things that he really liked. In the car on the way up there he also had a pop and that really was not a good idea.

A problem with PD dialysis for some is that the solution they have to use is dextrose witch can make a patients sugar count go up and he has been having that problem. Our routine is to check his sugar at night and if its high witch it always is I give him 10 units of lantus. His sugar when we went to bed last was 316 so I gave him a shot. When I got up this morning he was still hooked up to dialysis and had one more fill and a drain left. He was so thirsty that he had been setting here drinking water. At some point dialysis patients stop being able to urinate and he has. So all that fluid is staying in his body. The dialysis machine takes that fulid off. Since he was at the end of the dialysis treatment it didn't have time to do that. When it came time to unhook his weight was up so high that is scares me to death. The more the weight is the more fluid is on him. This is what causes the lungs to fill up and is life threatening. I will put him on dialysis early tonight to get it off as fast as I can. I will need to call the on call PD nurse today and hope they don't send him to the hospital. He was so thirsty so I checked his sugar and its over 500, another reason we should go straight to the hospital. He won't he is so tired of being in the hospital.

A PD home dialysis can have more fluids than a Hemo dialysis patient can but still need to be careful.
A PD home dialyses still has to watch their diet also.
Albumin witch is protein, you must eat protein, his is low.
Potassium
Phosphorus, a bad one, so many things he can't have.
Calcium,. we don't want that one
Other things that he takes meds for also.

Just about the time I think I'm getting this, one bad day can mess it up. Every time the lungs fill with fluid the heart becomes larger and weakens.

While he is sleeping today with a sugar count of over 500 I'll need to watch him and make sure he does not go into a coma. In the meantime I need to make sure a couple of bags are packed and I have all the information on his meds because if he begins to have trouble breathing we are on our way to the Hospital again no matter what he says.

So its worth it to pay more attention to fluids and diets. A person needs to be so careful.
Home dialysis is easy and we like it but take things for granted and get lax sometimes, now I'm so sorry we were not more careful.

We will be more careful in the future, you just can't get lax with home dialysis. In other words I'll have to nag at him more. Sometimes I feel like a drill Sargent.

PD is easier than Hemo because you are taking fluids and poison off every night. But you still have to do your part, one bad day can cause a real problem. Judy

Please See My Rose

My beautiful Rose faded away in my rose garden. A picture of it is in another post here on my blog. I hated to see it go away, I love to look at it in the mornings. It takes away some of the sadness here. Its a very sad life with someone you love is so ill and you know they will not get any better. The roses lifted my spirits but they are gone now. I make and sell girls hairbows, I love ribbon, any kind of ribbon but so far hairbows are the only thing I've made of my ribbons until now. I've been learning how to make ribbon roses. This picture is a rose I made last night while sitting in the living room tending to his dialysis machine. It lifts my spirits so much. I have an idea of a dozen roses all made of ribbons with long stems to give to my Sister and my Sister-n-Law. They are my only Sisters and and it would make me feel so good to give my roses away. This reminds me of a beautiful poem that my far away Friend posted here on my blog. Reaching across the deep waters from another Country she touched on my passion.

Does Anyone Else Have A Problem With White House Parties

I do have a problem with the "Party" the President hosted for the Prime Minister of India.

I know its important for the leader of our Country to entertain foreign governments but don't throw it in my face.

Beautiful isn't it, who paid for this I wonder. Who paid for the special chef and was that necessary. The white house has a full kitchen staff and did it have to be such a "party". Do they not remember that the whole country is watching and a great number of this country are out of work, out of food and don't know how they are going to pay the electric bill much less keep their home. Give me a break, the special chef was seen picking items from the garden that Mrs Obama planted with the help of some young children. I thought it was a move to show that a family could grow their own food to help in hard times. My gosh I had to cook my garden goodies myself.

It was a party with who's who attending along with uninvited guest crashing the "Party". Did tax payers money pay for all of this. I really want to know or did Obama's pay out of their pocket. I wonder who OKs a requisition for money's to be spent? Is it a free for all up there. They already spent a fortune on things we would never approve if we were ever consulted. I thought they were at work, wow maybe some of us could go up there and get a better job with benefits.

Let the people that we elected cut some spending in their very privileged little world and remember what they are up there for. Maybe they could learn a lesson from us on how to do without for the sake of the future.

Just tone it down and don't use our money to party all night. Try a quiet dignified dinner in the white house with the appropriate people attending and stop spending our money please.

Forgive the typo's, hmmm maybe that's why I'm not up there.

I'm not a hateful person at all and I think Oboma's are a adorable couple. I love to admire her dresses as much as anyone but this dinner seemed like a show of money. Gosh I thought we didn't have any.

My Day With Kidney Dialysis

This is how I'm coping with my day. I found a rose in full bloom this morning and had to take a picture. I'll swear I'm getting more like my Mother all the time.

I'm not the one on dialysis my husband is. So anything I say is from my point of view.

My moods go up and down depending on how his moods are and how he is feeling.

He sure has had some rough patches the last 3 weeks. A heart attack and one week later his lungs filled with fluid one week later high fevers and stopped eating. He is now falling so I got a walker out for him that was stored in the garage, I can't get him to use it.

He's only 55 and way to young to be this sick.

He told me this morning that he didn't think he would make it.

So I watch him sleep and my heart is broken watching this sweet man waste away.

Today is our 18th anniversary but he's too weak to talk much. So to keep my mind busy I've been in contact with my daughter today and we are on a mission.

Although my husband and I are not destitute we are struggling like lots of people right now.

I can only do so much in the way of repairs to our home, things are scotch taped up pretty good around here.

The large repairs I can't afford and pray for a answer for the burden on my shoulders.

We are in desperate need of a new roof for our house to satisfy our home owners policy. So now were talking impossible. When out of the blue God worked through a stranger from another country to start us on our way. This special person willl never know what they did for me and my husband. The kids are probably tried of hearing me talk and worry about how I'm going to ever replace this roof in time. My daughters and I are so overwhelmed and humbled by the actions of this special person that we decided to put this gift to the best use we could. The new roof is in the works. We have a base to work off now and we will see it through.

So I'm thinking now that maybe I'm wrong about my husband maybe he will get better. Unforseen things do happen and I have hope that his condition will turn around.

This blog is not meant for a diary I make and sell hairbows for little girls. I have had so many emails from people that are suffering from kidney failure and I know that anyone that clicks into this has kidney failure somewhere in there life.

Please remember my husband has type 2 diabetes and uncontroled sugar for years that took his kidneys. Not all kidney failure is permanent.

The Home Dialysis Ups and Downs

I'm looking for all the good that I can find here. The home dialysis is going well its the kidney failure that's the problem. Along with the dialysis comes with other problems. My husbands kidneys failed because he is a diabetic. This is a permanent thing here. Didn't take long to learn the dialysis machine and we just plan our mornings and evenings around hooking up to the machine. It's the other things that a diabetic suffers from. Within the last 3 weeks he has had a heart attack, one week later his lungs filled with fluid then something else never did find out what it was. Fever of 104 stopped eating and drinking not able to walk and very weak. This past weekend I thought I would lose him. The body endures so much he started eating today, walking without falling. He is on the mend and things are looking up.

The home dialysis really is easy to do now. I am so careful about washing my hands before I touch anything. They say wash with a antibacterial soap and sing happy birthday three times. I really feel like a dunce sometimes so I started making up my own lyrics to the song. After washing use antibacterial gel then glove oh and don't forget to mask before you do any of this. The machine does not take up much room but the supplies do. I have 2 walls lined with boxes 10 high of dextrose solution for his dialysis. Home dialysis is so much easier on a person then going to the center to have your blood cleaned.

I really do like it and would advise anyone to try it.
Better health for the patient and gives me a chance to care for him myself.
I have found that in the hospital you can't expect the nurses to know about dialysis. They usually have a PD nurse that will set you up. Even the EMTs did not know and what suprised me was the life flight. The most knowledgable of all really don't know either. You have to be an advocate for you loved one.

Dialysis under these conditions is no bed of roses but not all dialysis is permanet. There are many things that can cause kidney failure. My husband s was caused by many years of high uncontroled sugar. Its very hard to get them to watch thier diet and they pay later. It's a real shame but thats the way it is.

Learning Home Dialysis

Oh boy, we started training today for home dialysis for my husband. I know we will like it but so much to learn. For one thing its very hard to stay in a small room with a nurse from 8:30 in the morning till afternoon. Lucky for us the PD Nurse is a doll. I wonder how she feels about staying in the room with my husband all day. Oh course there can't be anything wrong with me, but he must irritate her, he does me.

Well will be so happy when we don't have to get up at 4:00 AM for him to catch his ride to the dialysis center and set in a chair for 3 hours while his blood is being cleaned.
This way we will get more rest. I'm still not sure why I had to get up that early with him, somehow it makes his coffee taste better. Sound familiar? Thats ok we love to do it.

I'm taking a break from ebay and my website for this week but next week I'll be back. I really look forward to it. I have lots of plans.

I'm still woking on my ribbon roses. I don't think I've seen anything so pretty before.

So life goes on and the dinner dishes are waiting on me I guess because they are still there.

There is so much interest in the hair bow instructions I posted several months ago.

I have posted some new ones on a new website I'm trying to build. I say trying because it seams really hard to me. Maybe I'm computer challenged and I'm just finding out. Anyway these are instructions for my Pony Bows that I sell on Ebay. They are adorable and easy to make. They don't take so much ribbon as the others do. They are good ones for someone to learn with.

I have lots of ribbon and clips so I added a page to the website for someone to buy a small kit. Just enough to make a few hairbows and get the feel of it without spending so much money. I will be available for questions at any time. I'm not really making anything on them its just for convenience for someone that does not have shopping near them. Here is the website. My Mothers Wartime Cookbook

As money gets tighter and food is getting harder to buy I thought of Mothers old cookbook. It was printed in 1942 during world war 2. The same year that I was born. A shortage of some foods and many people out of work. At the front of the book is a WATRIME POSTSCRIPT:

As this edition goes to press our country is still at war. Rationing is in force and shortages of many foods have developed. In a fine spirit of patriotism American homemakers have adapted themslves to the changes. Their minds are open to new ideas: foods they have never served before are now appearing on their tables. So, though you may have to wait until the war is over to try some of the recipes in this book, there are literally hundreds which will add interest and novelty to your wartime menus. If, for example, you haven't enough sugar to make Fruit Torte, there's a delicious Cabinet Pudding using only two tablespoons of that precious ingredient; if you can't obtain a sirloin steak, ther's an appetite-teasing T-bone steak, Family Style; if your busy schedule doesn't allow time to make yeast-raised orange bread, ther's a quick one that uses baking powder.

Refer to the chapter on nutrition often. It will tell you how to plan meals that will keep your family in top health. A healthy nation is the best contribution our homes can make to our war effort.

My 25 year old Daughter has ask that this book be handed down to her as soon as she owns her own home. So its in a plastic ziplock bag just waiting. Getting very old and crumbly just like me.

We have had to make alot of changes, can we adapt as well as our Mothers and Grandmothers did?

I have not posted in a long time. With a full time job it seams like there is so much to do.
Tell me does housework EVER get done. How do some of these women keep such a pretty house???????????????

So I figure if I sell off some of the furniture and nick naks maybe mine will look clean. So that's what I'll do. We are having a yard sale next Sat. If its not nailed down I'm hauling it to the front yard. By the way, how do you furnish a house without going to yard sales. I bet alot of this stuff came from a house 6 blocks over.

Free HairBow Instructions and Ribbon Informatoin

I can only pass on the information that I have and the ribbon suppliers that I use. I buy the best grosgrain ribbons and I'm diligent about making my hair bows. They are true boutique quality. I've had customers tell me that they give around $8.oo apiece for bows just like them in boutique shops. So many styles to choose from and there is a site that is just for free instructions. I know of many but this one is by far the best. Also a hair bow yahoo group where the girls talk about hairbows and sewing and are always willing to pass along information of how to make a bow.

to join this group go to the left side of there home page and click promote and that will take you to the page to join. Lots of information and really nice friendly bowmakers.

As far as buying ribbon here are the two main ones.
The first one is so great, she sells hairbow instructions also and the best ribbons. Ribbons are sold by 5 yard lengths. For hairbow makers there is also a wholesale section where you can buy 20 or 100 yard rolls. Buy a little or buy alot.

They are also real nice to work with.

You can find ribbon on ebay to but with shipping on every auctions it just makes more since to buy the 5 yard rolls from the ribbons suppliers that I mentioned above.

A three inch bow takes a length of ribbon 20 inches long. Usually 7/8 inch ribbon. So if you buy a five yard roll it will make 9 hairbows. Of course you don't have to make nine of them if you making for your child. Try using some to make a ribbon tee's or ribbon jeans. Save some of it back to make hairbows with several kinds of ribbons.

A 4 inch bow is usually made of 1-1/2 inch ribbon and you cut 29 inches.
On the free instructions website there are instructions for making 4 inch bows.

I tie my hairbows with elastic thread and some sew them. I hope to add a set of my own instruction to my website or my blog in the near future.

I buy my alligator pinch clips at Sall'y. I give 3.99 for 100 clips.
The french clips I buy from my ribbon supplier.

Road Trip Today

My husband and I will be gone today and tomorrow Nov. the 7th and 8th. He will have a surgery today in Oklahoma City witch is about 100 miles from here. I will be back to answer emails on Thurs. night the 8th of Nov.

Our Son-in-law is driving us to the hospital. Ok City has so much traffic that it scares me to death. So our plan is to drive from here in Holdenville to Norman to my daughters. She lives on the OU campus. My son-in-law is a EMT and works for EMSA there in Ok City and takes patients to the hospital all the time. Don't know why it is but I don't like to ride with any of the kids. Don't they know any fear?????????????? I'll have my eyes closed the whole time and have prayed for traveling mercy for this trip.

Once upon a time in a big bright green meadow,
A little duck walked - a duck wearing a hair bow.

The sun was shining and all was so bright,
And in this meadow of flowers, the duck flew a kite.

Then all of the sudden, the wind came blowing by!
And the little duck’s hair bow blew into the sky.

“Wait!” Cried the duck, “Don’t blow anywhere!
Oh, now what to do? What shall I wear in my hair?”

The little duck let her kite fall to the ground.
She would not rest until her hair bow was found!

See, her hair bow was special, something no one else had
It wasn’t magical, but it still made her glad.

She’d made it herself with love and with care

This Little Duck Needs A Name

I love to embroidery. I'm making some hair bows with this adorable little duck embroidered on them. My daughter that is a writer is going to write some Childrens books to offer with the hair bows. We have not settled on a name as yet. I like Homer and she thinks it needs to be a girls name.

I am blessed with 14 Grandchildren but I live about 85 to 100 miles from all of them. My daughter in Glenpool Oklahoma has TWINS that are 3 years old, a girl and a boy. Sweetest kids you have ever seen. And FULL of it. The little girl is just like her Mother was, bossy, too smart and hipper. The little boy is layed back and as sweet as he can be.

If my kids ever start reading my blogs, I'm in trouble. They will be here this afternoon and will stay for 3 days. They are so excited but on the other hand not really used to staying away from home. I would like to take pictures of Sarah wearing hairbows and post them on my website but its so funny that this little girl with the beautilful face and wonderful personality has a problem with smiling for the camera.

These are beautiful twins although I have a spare bedroom and had it ready for them the last time they came. Guess what, they won't sleep there. They had to sleep in my bed oh course and when I got them to sleep there was no room for me in there so I ended up sleeping on the sofa. Great at my age my bones won't conform to that sofa. Well here we go~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was looking through the Ebay auctions last night and saw a auction that really surprised me. In her auction for a wonderful hair bow holder she used the words as seen on TV. I guess I was thinking she was reselling these but that wasn't the case at all. She invented this style and has a patient pending. She entered her invention in a contest and won a chance to go to New York and show her invention on Good Morning America and now she is selling them on Ebay. I was so happy for her I had to email her. She was so nice to talk to and you know she didn't seem a bit nervous on TV. I would have been a train wreck. Here is a link to her auctions and website. TOTE CRAZY

Have you ever made things to put on your website or auctions and then you start thinking.
(Feel guilty about selling them because one of the kids might want them?) I get tickled every time I make a tote, either I think (well I might like to carry that one) or I bet one of the girls might want that one.) Then I think maybe I better not sell these you know Christmas in coming soon.
I like to draw out my own patterns and I really love to do that. I might dwell on a pattern for days. I don't know how these designers make so many totes and put them on their websites!!!
Oh course that was my plan to sell them. After 50 years of sewing I have learned a few things. Children's dresses and dresses for myself. Can't seem to produce anything though.
I've made items for very high end company's but can't seem to load up my website.

Of course the hair bows. I do love to make hair bows and sell plenty of those. I think my daughters have all the hair bows they can stand for their little ones.

My little 18 month old granddaughter is my model allot because she is around more than the others. She has learned the routine. I wait on her to get here and plan for pictures for my auctions and website. She knows when I put the new bows in her hair I'm going to get out the camera. The chase is on then. I have to chase her all over the place to get a shot.
Sometimes she wins out. I put one of them on my website the other day. She was in full flight. I'm thinking about putting all those out-takes on my website someday, and there is plenty of them. So funny

A Sad Day In Oklahoma

We were hit with typhoon weather yesterday in the Oklahoma City area. Something that has never happened before here. Six dead and 75 rescued from Kingfisher. In Seminole one woman swept away in her car from high waters and lost her life. Seminole is only 20 miles from here. Roads closed, power outages, some schools closed. Water is receding in some places. The winds were high and the rain was relentless. My heart goes out to all those families that were affected. All rivers are above flood stage. My city is OK as far as I could find out. We avoided another one. Listening to the news this morning Oklahoma has had 5 disasters since the first of the year.

We will keep all these towns and family's on our hearts.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN OKLAHOMA

Although its around 100 degrees temperatures for the rest of OK here in my part of the state its around 70. I'm no fool and I'm not going outside when its 100 degrease. I love my central air and I intend to use it like God meant for me to when he made it.

When my little yorkie gets up in the morning I throw him outside for awhile then he comes in too. He won't stay outside either. So I'm in my castle trying to find new things to do. Retirement is wonderful you know but someone needs to explain just what its good for. The government gave me a check and said they would send me one every month for as long as I live. WELL, I don't know where they come from but where I come from you can't do any kind of living on that check.
You don't want to appear to be lazy while they are giving you all that money for free so you work yourself to death trying to pretend your as good as you ever was. Ok, it sounds good.
I'm working building my new website and that is a labor of love for sure and it takes a really long time. These days my computer is my best friend. It must be I'm on it all the time.

I just added a new hairbow to my website lastnight. A fancy boutique bow for toddlers, pictue is above because I don't know how to put it here in my text.lol

Not the smartest thing I've ever done!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know you would think buy the time a person has reached my age they would be a little smarter. I decided to move furniture today although I have a very bad back. I really want my sewing machine in the living room area. So cool in here so I thought I would move this big ole computer out to the sewing room and put the sewing machine in here, it's really big. After moving 100 things in order to do this it hit me-------------I have no phone jack out there any more. Oh man all this work for nothing. So I decide to make another run to walmart to just buy a smaller computer desk that would dress up my front room. No such luck there either. By the end of the night I had it all figured out-------I need a new house.My husband works out of town so I was waiting on his call to inform him that we are moving because I don't have the right spot for my sewing machine. Needless to say he didn't want to talk to me very long. Oh well at least today was payday, that always puts me in a better mood. Tomorrow is another day

The Big Day Has Come And Gone

Well I survived the big vacation in July. I got to see my sister and mother in Ky. I never saw so much good food. Ky is a beautiful State and my Sister lives in the most unreal old style 2 story farmhouse is what it reminds me of. We were blessed with mild temps the whole time. My family was all there and it was wonderful.

My youngest daughter starts college this month on the 20th at Oklahoma University. We are very proud of her. Although kids used to go to College and then get married. Now they are married and have children living in the married dorms.

I stayed with them in July to help take care of the new baby and it was so interesting watching all the young people on Campus.

I'm building my new website and trying to load it with product. It's a labor of love for sure.

The big day

Well this is the day I leave for KY. I plan to shop for crafts while I am there and really looking forward to it. Hopefullly I'll be coming home with some great ideas.

Looking forward to seeing all my family especially my 84 year old Mother. To bad family's live so far apart these days. Still on the other hand I'll be so glad to safely get back home.

Such big plans when I get back. Completely changing my craft items and so excited about it.
I'll be doing the things that I've always wanted to do.

Designing women's totes is the big one, I can't wait to look for wonderful tapestry fabrics, imported fabrics for really high end totes.

I plan to offer totes of all prices, I don't want to price any woman out of owning her own custom made boutique tote bag.

Well this is Tues and 2 days to go before my daughter comes after me to go to KY. I had to put all my auctions on hold and my website. Although I have allot to do to get ready I miss my daily routine of tending to my sales and customers.
It's been storming here and floods. Power is out in allot of places, maybe I should be happy to go to KY just to get a way from the rain.
I have made a dozen trips to my bow room just looking around, I miss it.

The biggest problem is boarding my little Yorkie. You know some people are just not nice. When I call the vet's I'm afraid I'll make the girl mad. She is so busy and not to friendly. I have a apt. for this week but have to make another one for the following week so I can go to OK City to take care of my daughter that's having a baby next week.

Scary here with bad storms and hubby not home. The kids could not get hold of me so they called the police to do a welfare check on me. Embarrassing enough but the police drove by my house and told the kids I was at a neighbors house. I don't know where they got that story. Hmmm may be calling the police is not the best route to take.

I am a great-grandmother and a grandmother of 14.

I don't know how this happened so fast but it is here.

I'm in a Tessy, just now looking for my goals at 65 years old.

I'm not ready to be inactive or to be useless.

I may not feel the greatest anymore but I still manage to get allot done.

This morning I mowed the yard and weeded the flower bed in the front yard.

The lady next door came outside to compliment me on how she admired me for being able to do the yard work.

Of course she is 85 years old and to her I guess I'm young. She would give anything to be able to do something physical.

Oh course I would not have to do this kind of work if my husband was home, he would do it and I would not even offer. My gosh, I have enough to do.

However he works away from home in the summer so it's all mine.

I began making boutique hair bows about 3 years ago and started selling them on ebay and now on etsy.com under judithskloset.etsy.com.

Older people take things more seriously and I am completely committed to my online business. I love making hair bows for little angels.

On the other hand I don't like changes in my life. This week I am going to travel to KY to see my Mother. She lives with my youngest Sister and I have never been there. Getting harder to drive that far by myself. On the other hand have you ever went on a trip with one of your children? Don't they have any fear at all? So I will close my eyes and pretend that her tale-gate tactic's and jet speeds don't bother me for fear she will accuse me of being old........

I have to leave my little Yorkie at the vets while I'm gone and I'll miss him, oh will this ever be over.

My youngest daughter will have a new baby this month and I will go to her house to help her with the new baby and her toddler for a few days. Sure is hard to stay away from home. After all they don't know how I need things to be when I get up in the morning.

I need my coffee in the quite, not just a cup but 2 hours worth. I need time to think about the day and what I want to do. I need to sit at my computer and read everything in my groups, check my auctions and look at my website and marvel at how pretty it is.

Then I have to figure out what to wear that day, depending on what my plans are. Well when your tending to a new baby all that goes out the window. Forget the coffee and the computer and waking up. You know it takes awhile for your legs to keep up with you.

Maybe this will be the last grand-baby, they are all so precious and I love them all so much. Give them to me when they are walking and I can have a good time with them and they sleep all night and can fix their own cereal in the morning.
